Microblading Aftercare

  • It is very important for the longevity of your new eyebrows to follow aftercare instructions accurately
  • Inflammation may be present for 24-48 hours after treatment. This includes the area feeling tender, experiencing bruising, redness, or swelling. Do not take any anti-inflammatory medication for 24 hours post-treatment; an ice pack wrapped in a towel can be beneficial to ease swelling, redness, or pain
  • With clean hands, gently wash your brows with mild soap and clean water (antibacterial hand soap is suggested), pat dry and then apply the aftercare balm provided to you with a cotton swab in the following frequencies:
    • Every hour until bed time on the first day

    • 3-6 times a day on days 2-4 days (3 days) - apply whenever the skin feels tight/dry

    • AM and PM on days 5-14 (10 days)

  • Absolutely NO makeup on the brows for 7 days (or longer if skin is still scabbed or peeling)
  • It is important to avoid the following for 14 days post-treatment:
    • Applying ANY product to the brows other than the ones suggested to you (Zensa healing cream, Webber Vitamin E Cream, grapeseed oil, coconut oil)

    • Activities that increase sweating, i.e. sport activities, housework, working out, etc.

    • Swimming pools, Jacuzzis, saunas, hot tubs, hot baths

    • Sun tanning, sunless tanning, or direct exposure to sunlight

    • Laser, chemical peels, products containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the brows

    • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the brow area

    • Performing tasks involving a disruption of dirt or dust – the ointment on your brows will catch dirt and dust and you could risk infection

    • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, jeeps, boats, bicycles, motorcycles or four wheelers

    • Touching the eyebrow except for then cleaning and applying aftercare cream/ointment with a clean cotton swab – Do NOT re-dip the cotton swab into the product. Always use a new swab for each dip

    • Drinking alcohol in excess – could lead to slower healing

  • Home care is crucial. Following the above instructions will determine how the skin will heal and how the pigment will settle
  • Should you experience any signs of infection (redness past 48 hours, severe swelling, oozing, extreme pain) please consult a physician, and then report the incident to Gels by Jess Esthetics immediately after medical treatment
