
Microneedling Aftercare
You must wash your hands before touching the area. Apply moisturizer to the treated area twice daily for 72 hours following the treatment. A product with SPF is highly recommended. If using a container of product of for your skin, always use a clean cotton swab to remove the product from the container; never re-dip the swab or your hands into the container after touching your skin
Inflammation may be present for 24-48 hours after treatment. This includes the area feeling tender, experiencing bruising, redness, or swelling. Do not take any anti-inflammatory medication for 24 hours post-treatment; an ice pack wrapped in a towel can be beneficial to ease swelling, redness, or pain
The treated area will typically fully heal within one week, but some may take two weeks to fully heal; this is normal. There may be some mild scabbing and flakiness, this is an indicator to apply more moisturizer. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH the scabbed area
You may apply makeup to the affected area the day following treatment, ENSURE APPLICATORS ARE CLEAN
Avoid excess heat or steam for 24 hours
Avoid direct sunlight for 72 hours
Avoid any activity to cause sweating for 72 hours (no working out, housework, etc.)
Do not tan in sunless tanning bed for 72 hours
Do not go swimming for 72 hours
Do not use powered cleansing brushes on affected area for 72 hours
Do not use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) scrubs or anything perceived as “active” skincare for one week after treatment
Only allow CLEAN water to touch the skin for 72 hours
Home care is crucial. Following the above instructions will determine how the skin will heal in the next few days
Repeat treatments are perfectly safe and recommended. Repeat treatments should be done no sooner than two weeks. Repeating the treatment every four weeks is optimal
Should you experience any signs of infection (redness past 48 hours, severe swelling, oozing, extreme pain) please consult a physician, and then report the incident to Gels by Jess Esthetics immediately after medical treatment
